Public Test: Potential Yet-unannounced Changes to Test Ships

Image
As gamemodels3d has freshly put online the new ships from the Update 15.10 Public Test client, they are also, as usual, listing changes made to ships already in the game. This time, though, among these changes were some yet unannounced changes made to test ships. Now... one of those changes could just be leftover from the 15.8 client stats, but who knows. European Tier X Premium Submarine Orzeł Detectability range by sea reduced: 5.81 to 5.24 km Detectability range by air reduced: 2.09 to 1.88 km As I said above, it could be some leftover from her stats before the nerf she got in 15.8, but it could also be Wargaming deciding to buff her back. U.S. Tier X Premium Battleship New Jersey Consumable Gun Crew Assistance: Added a preparation time of 90 seconds Consumable Auxiliary and Torpedo Armament Assistance: Added a preparation time of 90 seconds Consumable Engineering Crew Assistance: Added a preparation time of 90 seconds This one, it is new and very likely will be a...

Supertest: Japanese Tier IX Premium Cruiser Ōta

As the last Premium ship entering testing with Update 15.9, here is Ōta. As was announced in the Roadmap article, she will be available as the reward of the next Dockyard event. Time to see what this plus-size Harugumo is packing. Historical background Ōta doesn't have much background to speak of. She is a fictional AA refit of Gokase (which, itself, is as far as I remember based on the C44 design/Agano-kai). The main battery was replaced with six twin 100 mm dual-purpose turrets, and a large number of 25 mm AA guns were installed in various configurations. While not a real design, Ōta appears as she would have been fitted in 1944. Ship's preview Ship's permanent camouflage As it's already been revealed in the roadmap, here is her Dockyard commemorative camouflage: As a reminder, this ship is in testing; anything can change, so don't treat her as if she's already been released. Supertest: Japanese Tier VIII Premium Aircraft Carrier Akagi

Image
After covering the USS Honolulu, it is time to take a closer look at the second ship that will be added to the game with Update 15.9, in preparation for the anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor. The legendary Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi will soon be visible in battle! Alongside Honolulu, Akagi will be one of the two selectable rewards for an upcoming web event made to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the attack. Historical background Akagi was an Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft carrier. She was initially laid down in December 1920 as the second ship of the Amagi-class battlecruisers. However, when the Washington Naval Treaty took effect in February 1922, construction of the class stopped. At first, both Amagi and Akagi were planned to be converted into fast aircraft carriers. Unfortunately, while the conversion of Akagi's hull started in November 1923, misfortune would strike Amagi. In September 1923, the Great Kantō earthquake caused considerable damage to Amagi's...
