Public Test: Potential Yet-unannounced Changes to Test Ships

As gamemodels3d has freshly put online the new ships from the Update 15.10 Public Test client, they are also, as usual, listing changes made to ships already in the game.

This time, though, among these changes were some yet unannounced changes made to test ships. Now... one of those changes could just be leftover from the 15.8 client stats, but who knows.

European Tier X Premium Submarine Orzeł

  • Detectability range by sea reduced: 5.81 to 5.24 km
  • Detectability range by air reduced: 2.09 to 1.88 km

As I said above, it could be some leftover from her stats before the nerf she got in 15.8, but it could also be Wargaming deciding to buff her back.

U.S. Tier X Premium Battleship New Jersey

  • Consumable Gun Crew Assistance: Added a preparation time of 90 seconds
  • Consumable Auxiliary and Torpedo Armament Assistance: Added a preparation time of 90 seconds
  • Consumable Engineering Crew Assistance: Added a preparation time of 90 seconds
This one, it is new and very likely will be announced soon. Now I obviously cannot comment on it since I'm testing the thing. However, it seems like Wargaming are simply making it so that people can't just start the game, burn two consumables, and instantly have the Combat Instruction ready.

EDIT: Actually, I just realized that it was something that initially was in the devblog that announced the ship, but the preparation time was not present in the game soooo... I guess that was some sort of oversight or a bug that got corrected?

Beyond these changes, Orzeł and Aragón will seemingly be released with Update 15.10 since their dubloon values got updated.

In any case...

Supertest: French Tier X Premium Cruiser Latouche-Tréville

Since I am back to writing articles and the public test isn't up yet, I thought I might as well go with one of the ships in testing on the live server and... you guessed it, I picked the French one. It's also an opportunity for me to look at how the stuff I used to do on WordPress translates on Blogger. I will have to see if I stick with these HTML tables or find another presentation style. Historical background Just like her predecessor Carnot, at tier IX, Latouch-Tréville is based on a fusion of two French designs of large cruisers from the 1920s. These designs would eventually lead to the Dunkerque-class battleships. In 1926, in an effort to counter the Italian Trento-class heavy cruisers, the Chief of the Naval General Staff, Admiral Henri Salaun, requested a new series of capital ships. The initial design called for a 17 500 tons battlecruiser armed with a main battery consisting of two quadruple turrets with 305 mm guns and with both turrets at the front (in game, Toulon...

Supertest: U.S. Tier X Premium Battleship New Jersey

Well, might as well start with the big one for the 15.8. The last member of the Iowa-class battleships is finally joining the game after 11 years! Ladies and Gentlemen.... The USS New Jersey. Historical background The USS New Jersey BB-62 is the second ship of the Iowa-class of battleships from the U.S. Navy. The ship was laid down on the 16th of September 1940, launched on the 7th of December 1942, and commissioned on the 23rd of May 1943. She was nicknamed "Big J" or "Black Dragon" due to her early career's uniform dark blue color scheme. New Jersey holds the title of being the most decorated battleship in the U.S. Navy's history with a grand total of 19 battle stars, including 9 during the Second World War, 4 during the Korean War, 3 during the Vietnam War, and finally 3 during the Lebanese Civil War and during her service in the Persian Gulf. New Jersey joined the Pacific theater in early 1944, where she initially provided cover for aircraft carriers bef...

Supertest: Soviet Tier X Premium Battleship Rodina

With Update 15.9, we are getting the last ship to join the Holiday convoy event. Here is the Sovetsky Soyuz's larger cousin, the Rodina. Historical background Rodina is based on the 1939 Project 23bis from the Soviet Navy. Work on this design began soon after the initial Project 23 (also known as the Sovetsky Soyuz-class) was laid down, and it was intended as an improved version of it. The key improvement the Soviets wanted was for the top speed of the ship to be 30 knots instead of 28 knots. They also wanted improved anti-air defence, which was becoming increasingly important, and to replace the Italian Pugliese torpedo defence system with a multi-bulkhead design. When it came to the increase in speed, the engineers had to deal with the issue of keeping the machinery of the initial Project 23. They decided to go with the idea of lengthening the ship and fitting better propellers. This came with the side effect of the ship also being slightly wider, which allowed them to replace t...
